I have made many sheets of double tissue, and tracing paper origami models. I had a zany idea that somehow i could flatten the paper. I tried leaving it under my bed matress, but then i had a breakthough!

IRONING DID THE JOB!

Ironing kinda cooks the double tissue, to make it more easy to fold, as well as getting rid of creases. i also use my iron to keep pleats (eg. Lafosse's alligator) and also made a tracing paper ancient dragon, finishing the wings, and flattening the model by ironing it.

Who would have guessed?
Does anyone else iron paper? or is there something wrong with me!

nope, nothing is wrong with you, i do this sometimes as well, it works a treat

I iron paper a lot if there are creases in my double tissue...and sometimes with tesselations when I want them to be flat before I shape them.

I used ironing while making Sipho's Fugu Pufferfish, instead of using MC.
It went pretty well
I also iron paper when i make it by myself.

No i don't wet it first : ) I just iron it in action of dry folding to keep creases tough.

I'm used to ironing paper too.
Usually I make my paper ironed to have a a clean and neat sheet to start origami.
Never tried ironing to make the crease stronger... I think that with MC or tissue-foil it would work good.

With tissue foil and MC, you shouldn't have to do anything else to get the paper to stay in place. I have ironed dollar bill models before to attempt to flatten them/compress layers/shape them better-I suppose it worked all right, but I would prefer not having to bust out an iron if I don't have to
