Hi there,
I recently started diagramming using inkscape.

Since I'm new to the topic I used Robert Lang'sEssay on diagrams as a guideline.

I know that they're far from finished, but I'd like your oppinion on the diagramms anyways

here are a few examples:
Raven

Spiky Star

I like them.
but you should use numbers for the steps and probably write some words underneath them.

I forgot to mention that I plan adding descriptions.
I figured it would be nonsense to write the text until I'm sure about the pictures.

I'm not yet sure if my way of indicating a petal fold is the best way to go, or at least a one that is clear to a noob.

oh I just realized that you used the wrong arrows in your diagrams.
those arrows are MOUNTAIN FOLD arrows



you need to use "simple" arrows for valley folds

I thought that was a general movement arrow.

Is a petalfold a mountainfold ?
I'd rather like to use a general "pull" arrow (if there's such a thing)

the usage depends on the... lets say finished position of the flaps.







you usually use the mountain fold arrow if you need to fold something backwards. you could also turn the paper and make a valley fold but its sometimes easier to use the mountain arrow.

within a petal fold you don't fold a flap backwards, so I wouldn't use the mountain arrow.

I found the time to fold the raven. here are the results of the german jury

sinking the the tip in your fifth step and wrapping tha paper around in your 13th step is useless because it only produces a simple birdbase top down

just begin with a birdbase, skip some steps

I corrected your diagrams at some points and removed a couple of steps.
I forgot one "turn around" sign after the sixth step.

Yes there's one turn missing I got that, could you siply mark the steps you're talking about ,because I don't know in wich way you're counting.

Maybe you want to look at this video of my Raven to check if you understood the diagram in the way I intended.
