im pretty sure that this book is out of print, but just incase its not where would i be able to get it? i reeeeeeeeeally want to fold the clown fish and anemone in that.

It's waaaaay out of print. Once I managed to borrow a copy from a friend of a friend, but I've never seen a copy for sale; I haven't seen any other copies since then. It's super hard to find online because the original print run wasn't very big, and it was only sold through Micheal LaFosse's studio, so most of the copies ended up on origami folders' bookshelves.

You're a very lucky man if you manage to find a used copy on ebay; you probably won't find it anywhere else.

i did see one on ebay quite a while back but it was selling for like £70, so i didn't really bother buying it then. but ill check again now...

"Creating Origami" by J.C. Nolan is available for check out from the Origami USA lending library. At least it was a couple years ago when I checked it out.

i believe it was originally available from OUSA, too. i believe that's how i got my copy ... though my memory is fading.

does the lending library lend stuff overseas?

J.C. Nolan's book is really only an illusion...

It is an excellent book and one of the hardest to locate. Sometimes, if you post that you're interested in buying a copy, someone will list their copy on eBay.

However, I've found it very difficult to even locate it via Interlibrary loan...

The anemone and clown fish is truly great and was ahead of its time. Jay was also one of the first to use the computer to create diagrams, and his diagrams of Patricia Crawford's work, full rigged Ship and unicorn, as well as Fred Rohm's It's Magic (Color change Rabbit on a box) are amazing. I think that someone may have improved upon the full masted ship.

If you find a copy, grab it !

500 copies eh? I've wondered how many were actually produced. I'm glad I found on Ebay when I did then. Keep looking though. Stuff pops up on there every so often.

Given what Michael LaFosse said, there may be another option. It might be possible to re-publish the book via Lulu or other self-publishers.

You would have to contact J.C. Nolan, review the self-publishers, and drum up enough pre-orders to cover the costs. J.C. is not into Origami much, so he might not be that motivated, unless someone else handles all the details. You might also want to consider a little extra for J.C., because it IS his book.

another approach would be simply to ask him if you could buy a *.pdf version of the book.

after all, it definitely has the look of something that was typed up on a computer.

Is J C Nolan in the list?
Mr. Nolan I really would like to purchase your book, if possible.

i think nolan "retired" from origami some time ago.
