Hello friends,

Today when I was walking around the town, just because I was too bored to stay at home I found a craft store or more likely hobby store. There I found a handmade paper. It's probably not just as the Washi, since it's not made in Japan but I think it has the same qualities as Washi, because both are handmade after all.

I want to use that handmade paper for Sipho Mabona's Fugu (Blowfish), but I'm worried that it's not suitible for this model, because the paper could be too soft for model's folds.

What's your opinion? Take into consideration that modelling involves wet folding and the use of methyl cellulose.
I'm also posting a picture of Fugu.

I think that if it's a large enough paper, it should be suitable. By the way, how did you make your signature? I really like it!

Can you take a picture or give some kind of description? Thickness, color, inclusions, translucence, etc. Without knowing what you're talking about, it's hard to know how well it will fold.

Regardless, unless it's Origamido or gampi, it's always a good idea to treat thin papers with MC before folding. Those two have sizing in them already, so you don't need to worry about MC, except for finishing.

One of the most important qualities the paper should have is that it must be very thin, and make very crisp creases. Most of the time, you'll be folding through 4 layers at the same time, so I suggest you limit the thickness to about 20-30 g/m².

@Jared; There are two steps where, according to the diagrams, you should smear MC over (a portion) of the model, so even if paper has already been sized, it's advised to use MC on it during those steps. The more MC, the merrier.

Yeah I really had to check it thickness before asking you for help. Sorry about that. But the size is very convenient for folding and it's in different colours if that matters. I can take a picture but it won't be good enough because it's packed in a glossy bag.

I think I'll try to fold Fugu with this paper in the near future and will show you the result after
