i'm quite fond of the specialty yuzen packs sold by paperjade, but it's hard to find a use for them. i do like using them in miniature modulars, like the kind you find the fuse spiral series, that require about 4-6 pieces of paper (for the above, i use 2 pieces of kami, 2 pieces of the yuzen).

can anyone recommend any books with similar "mini modulars?" the ultimate plan is to string these up to decorate my xmas tree, which is the reason why the boxes don't really work (the lids just look weird strung up so).

if you cut them into 3" squares you could make some quite nice fireworks

Maybe you can try the simpler / models which require few sheets of paper from Meenakshi Mukerji's book - Origami Inspirations? Some of the models especially the 'whipped cream' ones look great in that book.

And if I am not mistaken, she does have 'options' in folding these - either using 6 sheets or 12 or more. I don't have the book with me but this is from what I saw on the Internet (reviews etc).

But I agree with you, bethnor - the Spiral series by Tomoko Fuse is great for these sheets of paper you have with you. The shells look great!

How about some Cranes on your tree? the really look nice on a string!

I unfortunately have no modular sugesstions for you.

I'm bumping this... I found it looking for something else, but it strikes me that the (Tomoko Fuse?) spirals in the first post would make great Christmas ornaments. As would the double spiral that looks similar but is spiraled on both ends...
