Sorry if there's another thread on this, but i couldn't find it.
Anyway, i was just wondering if anyone here knows how to make thin paper that folds well. If it's not thin but still folds well, then thats also great.

i'm not certain what your question is here, joshua, as you obviously know how to make tissue foil, and have also resized handmade papers with MC. other than making double tissue MC, that only other thing i think that you could possibly mean is making a paper yourself from scratch... which requires a lot of resources. lafosse's advanced origami gives a walkthrough of his process if that's what you're looking for.

You need a place where you don't mind to have water on the floor...
the place where you'll squeeze the pulp and where to let dry the sheets
You need a lot of patience too, the firsts sheets will not be as you expect, probably as not thin as you want and not so regular in width.

Anyway in the LaFosse's book there are all the indications you need

anyway, that's why i was a bit confused, joshua... i assumed you already had both lafosse books. i don't think there's anything more on the forums than that. though you could always pm donya... it seems her grandmother does papercrafting.

i'm also sad to tell you that i really don't think the endeavor is something you can just open up the book and do with just about anything laying around, like you could with tissue foil or mc. you're probably gonna have to go shopping a bit, not to mention clear a large workspace.

Yes, i have both of Laffose's books, but i never really read from them... Just fold. But of course, i will get everything i need to make the paper.

when i started making paper, the supplies costed just above $100 not including the mould and deckle. i had my grandfather make those. and i used the book japanese paper crafting by michael lafosse. it takes alot of practice to get it right though. and this is sort of off topic, but the last time i had advanced origami was when i was 7 and like josh, i only folded from it. i heard there were recipes for different papers. is there a recipe for origamido paper?

Origamido makes primarily 100% Abaca paper. So, it's abaca, I know they over-beat it, but I'm not certain for how long. If you want to make a paper with a different texture, in fact, the one that Satoshi Kamiya uses, you need to do 50% abaca, 50% hemp...but again, I'm not certain of beating times, or even if the pre-beaten pulp you can buy is separated into different beating times...but there you are.

i already knew about the kamiya paper but completely abaca for origamido? thats the cheapest fiber!
