Ethyl Cellulose

I've seen ethyl cellulose being sold as archival glue. Does anyone know how it is different from methyl cellulose (besides the extra carbon atom), especially usage wise?

According to Wikipedia Ethyl cellulose is a water-insoluble coating agent. So, if wikipedia is correct on this one, it should be rather horrible for paperfolding. Well, wet-folding at least.
But do bear in mind I'm relying on wikipedia for this info, as it might be utterly wrong.

Ethyl cellulose is indeed insoluble in water. It's most commonly used as a hot-melt adhesive or dissolved in some other solvent.
Given that, I agree it wouldn't be very useful in origami.

If it was thinned out it could possibly be used to waterproof a model and make it more durable. I'd experiment first though
