Hi, I'm a new member! I'm 14 years old and come from Malaysia. Here's my gallery. All the models here are designed and folded by me.

This is the first model I ever designed. It's a rearing dragon with a rider on its back. Folded from a 40 by 40cm sheet of foil paper.


This is my godzilla. Folded from a 30 by 30cm sheet of foil paper.


Seven-headed hydra. Folded from a 20 by 20cm sheet of coloured printer paper. Uses a blintzed fish base. The legs came from a preliminiary fold from the middle of the paper.



This is my favourite model. Ever since I first saw Satoshi's bahamut, I always wanted to make my own one. Folded from a 50 by 50cm sheet of golden foil paper. The white side was painted black. The wings are alot bigger than they look because I folded them in. You can't really see it because of the foil but there are pleats on the chest plate.


Last week, I had a one-week school holiday and I spent it folding origami...

Dancing crane. This one is similar to Wolf's crane...except crappier looking....and impossible to balance.

Another angel. I was looking through Satoshi's gallery and saw his angel. So, I decided to try and make an angel with a skeletal wing structure like his.

You need to link directly to the pictures and not only to the page where they are hosted on. Just right click on the picture say "copy picture address" paste this address into your post and delete the "?v=0" in the end. The rest should be fine like you made it.

Haven't seen that you done that, just did the editing myself...

Your work on models are very good in the case of designing. Keep folding! But your work is really bad in the case of final folding. Be patient and fold each model many times and work on final shaping. Try to make your models nice, not only complicated in design, but also nice.

Making foil paper look nice isn't exactly easy -_-. I really want to make tissue foil but I can't find spray adhesive in any of the hardware shops I go to. Is there any other kind of glue that sticks to foil? I tried gluing two pecies of crepe paper together with MC but they er...tore...

There are some kinds of white glue that stick to aluminium foil, can't tell you any brands though.

Maybe you could try to just use two layers of tissue paper glued together with mc. That paper works really great for complex models.
Your models could look really nice if being folded with the right kind of paper.

I tried that once. How do you do it without ripping the paper?

It is pretty good, all I think needs improving are the wings, they could use some shaping.

can i ask where you're getting the foil from? just eyeballing it, it looks like very large squares of japanese foil... which i would very much like...

i am aware, btw, of the foil from nicholas terry's site. i'm just something of a purist and like neat squares... all i have for cutting myself is a pair of scissors and so the edges are never perfect...

Honest reply? Although the designs look great, the models are spoilt by your choice of paper. Make your own foil backed paper! Once you get the hang of it, your photos will look 100% better, and will show off your true skill. Failing that, go to an art shop, or order from origamido.com.

Just a note, the only way to get Origamido paper for the time being is to buy it in person. They are in the process of moving their studio so they are not accepting any online orders for the time being. So unless you want to go to Massachusetts, Origamido paper is out. Besides, it's almost cheaper to make your own foil-backed paper.

It is much, much cheaper to make foil backed paper! Of course, a folder has plenty of material to fold from - Kami, foil-backed tissue, handmade mullberry, or origamido. (And others)
