Hi folks! I've been designing since November but have gotten only a small response on flickr. I've noticed more in depth critiques of work on the forum, and I am interested in improving. From the look of your works I thought you were a pro of many years.
I don't really have much to say in terms of critique, it all looks wonderful to me. Keep up the great work!

Not much of a critique but that little, box-pleated dude with the hat has a lot of character... and that first mask is incredible. Those are definitely my favorites.

Keep designing and refining models......and PLEASE diagram some of them. I'm sure lots of people (including myself) would love to fold them.

I like the penguin, polar bear, flower and ice cream cone.

I like the feet and proportions on both the penguin and polar bear. For suggestion, rather than critique, can you play with the feet without ruining the proportion, improving the impression of feet, using less paper and less detail ?

Also, can you try variations to improve the impression of the details of the face and head, without using more paper ? No suggestion how or which direction, just a suggestion to explore multiple variations, and keep good notes, because you may discover something very interesting.

You might try reducing the size of the fly on the ice cream.

Thanks legionzilla, and spiritocat, I appreciate the comments. Wizmatt, I am learning inkscape but to be honest, I have a very hard time learning a new skill on the computer while I'm having so much fun folding, so I'm slacking on the diagram front. Thanks for looking and your comments folks.

Hank, I appreciate your feedback. I agree with pushing all of these design further and your suggestions on notes is spot on, and I'm negligent up to this stage. The fly being so large was kind of a joke based on a children's book. It's Montroll's fly, my ice cream. Thanks for looking and for your suggestions, this is the feedback that will help me get better.

Your designs have a unique character, and that is one of the best things to have as a designer. Your paper choice is great-the shiny, lacquered look to your human figures and masks is great. Your humans are great, again with a great amount of character. Your 'representational' stuff is very clever. I have seen few, if any, paintbrushes and ice cream cones. Your polar bear and penguin could use a little work, but they are still good models. The penguin in particular is very cute. Your masks are pretty neat, but work on folding very organic forms and getting to the end result with no crumpling or extraneous creases. Delicate, soft shaping seems to be the key to models like that, and you are doing a pretty good job already. Take all of those directions! Look at Joisel's work-he has folded fantastic masks, fantastic human figures, and fantastic animals. You have some very clever designs. Keep it up and you will go places!

Hi Jon. Thanks for looking and your suggestions. I think the best thing about your comments is that you've done the things that you've suggested. Your work is so original and is definitely well shaped.
I'm convinced that I need input such as yours to really figure out origami design and folding, and I appreciate your time. Keep up the great work, it's inspiring. Mike Van Horne

my suggestion is to make some diagrams for your human figures.
