I look forward to seeing pictures in this gallery! I like the Jack in the Box very much - it is a very fun to fold model, and always is satisfying to finish . One question: will yours stay closed? Mine always seem to pop back open :/

This one I have made wouldn't stay closed as the paper size is not right but by using the right size it is possible to stay closed!!!

I remember to have folded that Jack-in-the-box too, back in the 1990's ...

To me, it's an either-or story. When you fold it so that it stays closed, then Jack won't pop out anymore when the lid is opened. Either it will pop, and the box won't stay closed, or the box will stay closed, but it won't pop anymore.
The box lid has zero friction to the box' walls (or at least only veryvery little) so there is no in-between.

Back then, I had made a paperbelt to wrap around the box.

Max Hulme taught this at the BOS autumn convention last year. We used a wrapping paper that I think was laminated thinly on one side. My finished model did stay closed and pop up too, because the paper was quite thick the lid stayed closed.
