This Samurai Helmet Beetle model is work in progress. It was folded starting with a watermbomb base. I need to improve particularly the tip of the horn. Any suggestion?

Thin the legs, shape the horn, rearrange flaps, shape in general, etc.

Fluffy, I don't think that would be necessary as it would destroy the uniqueness and character of this model. The whole point of it is that it look simple and to an extent, "cute", so thinning it down and making it realistic would ruin it in my opinion. For that reason I think it is an excellent model and I really like it.

I like it as it is.

i agree with anonymous and flaregloom. ultra-realistic is and should not always be the goal.

but i must ask the OP what they don't like about the model.

I agree with Flaregloom. The model looks great as it is.

On the topic of simple vs ultra-detailed >> I think both are great. But whatever you choose to do, be sure it's consistent throughout the model. You wouldn't want to have a simple bodied insect that has ultra-realistic appendages.

Wow this is super. I like the cartoon look.

And yes you should keep it as it is by now. There are many realistic kabutos allready.

Sorry, Fluffy, but I have to agree, I like it as it is. We sometimes forget nowadays that our's is an art of abstraction.

I do agree with the guys above. It is great like that.

I like the rounded boxy look it has. It has a certain simple character that I can't really phrase that appeals to me. Keep it that way.
