Re: ODT3
OK I want to start by saying my plans for the next round so everyone can be on the same page and anyone can voice concerns. I want to start by saying for the loser bracket, I will pair people who actually submitted models together and those who did not submit models together. It was the holidays and I understand it can get very busy so I want to at least include them in the loser bracket.
Next I want to address the due dates. I do not want any round pushed back anymore, so from now on 1 week after polls open the round is over. If you did not have your model in by the poll open, you lose your round end of story. After the brackets are updated everyone should make the forum post with the 3 rules and each entrant will have 4 days to decide the 3 topics and which topic they will use. After the 4 days the challenge will run for 20 days upon which the poll will start and run for 7 days.
The 20 days to fold was from the original ODT, if there are complaints about any of this I would be happy to change it as long as we stick to a standard.
If someone enters a model that does not fit the criteria of the challenge, the person must be notified as soon as possible so they can get a new model in. If you have ANY questions about the 3 topics picked please voice them instead of risking making a model that does not fit in. If your model does not follow the rules picked by the time the poll is up, you will go to the losers bracket unless something crazy happened.
Finally I see there was a tie for Rickygami vs. GWB origami. I am not sure how to handle this. Would you like me to extend the deadline? I think if the mods are OK with it we should make a post in the general origami forums that there is a tie to get more members to vote, along with a link to the round. This would make more people see it I hope and want to vote to break the tie.
Actually that was not finally, because I had a question about the loser bracket. Should there be a winner of that bracket and end it or have the winner of the loser bracket face the winner of the winner bracket? Any opinions are great, if no one responds I will just keep the brackets separate.
Also spiritofcat, Akugami lost the round and you wanted his/her place. Would you mind joining the losers bracket?

Re: ODT3
Firstly I would like to wish shortloldude good luck and thank him for volunteering his time to manage this tournament.
With regards to the losers bracket, I think the winners from both brackets should not face only because the other method makes it confusing which round is really finals, and the person who took second on the winners bracket should probably be considered second place. That said, I do not have a very strong opinion and would be happy either way.

I also wish you luck in managing the tournament. Thankyou for volunteering!
As for loser bracket... I think the winner of the loser bracket should take 3rd. 1st and 2nd place should go to the finalists of the winners bracket.

please don't shoot that fast. the poll runs until tomorrow and who knows what will happen in the next few hours. in fact i got out of the game, but i could live with winning the first challenge - 'though i don't think, that i will do so ...shortloldude wrote:... Akugami lost the round ...

Re: ODT3
Thank you both for the luck! I will make it so third place is the winner of the losers bracket then and the winners are 1st and 2nd place of the winner bracket.
Akugami, I apologize, I was not trying to be hurtful. Polls went out a while ago I was somewhat considering the first round to be over yesterday, I did not check the end time of each poll. Again, sorry for jumping the gun! This also solves the tie problem hopefully.

Re: ODT3
I have decided to forfeit from the rest of the competition. I don't have the free time any more I had 3-4 months ago when I signed up. Sorry if it causes a problem with your bracket, but I find this better than just entering nothing in my next match.
Good luck with the competition!

Re: ODT3
Since I got a free pass too the second round I haven't been competing as off yet. But I've been glimpsing through this topic reading the arguments. As far I can see now, someone else is running the tournament and a couple of rules have changed.
Could someone post all the changes to the tournament? And also when the second round starts, how much time we got and when the poll should go up?
I think it will be usefull to have overview before the next round starts.
Thanks in advance Roodborst

Re: ODT3
I actually have the proposed rule changes and time deadlines posted at the top of this page. If someone has any concerns with these deadlines let me know now so I can change them and make them a standard. The last poll from this round ends today though and brackets should be up tonight or tomorrow depending what time the poll ends so you should let any concerns be known soon. I did not create this topic so I cannot edit the first post sadly, but I will re-post the deadlines and rule changes for you:
4 days to decide 3 topics and choose a topic
20 days to fold the model. If after 20 days you do not submit a model you lose the round.
7 days poll
If someone makes a model that does not fit the topic picked, they will be notified as soon as possible but will lose the round without a correct origami for the round.
Finally, every week I will let each contestant know how much time they have left in the round through PM.
Also several people wanted to join the tournament. Since there were "byes" for the first round I was wondering if anyone would have a great objection to allowing them to join the winner bracket, perhaps versus each other in their first round. If not, at least allow them into the loser bracket so they can fold. If no one has any objections to this I will put them into the brackets when I post them.

Re: ODT3
I was one of the byes and I think we should be given a chance to win, it would be a bit unfair if we were presumed losers when one of us could have won the tournament had we been given the chance.
I would also like to add my thanks to shortloldude for taking over the tournament and good luck!

Re: ODT3
This is a bit difficult for me to word, but that was not my intent. Everyone with a bye in the first round stays where they are.
Several people wanted to join into the tournament after is has already started and I wanted to see if anyone had any quarrels with allowing them to join in with a bye from the first round. If there are no problems I will do just that, or perhaps if someone did not want this I could place them into the loser tournament bracket. I hope this cleared up the issue a bit!

Re: ODT3
shortloldude, I edited the first post to include what you posted at the top of this page. If you want me to put in anything else let me know, I can edit the topic however you need.
Re: ODT3
With the people who drew, you could Just put both of them into the second round against each other again, and if no one wins this time, then they get put into an extra round, outside the bracket and people keep voting and they keep submitting models. Every week, (starting after an initial 20 days), the votes are counted and for three weeks, the two competitors try to get the most votes for that week, and it's best of three weeks. At the end, the loser is slotted into the losers bracket, and the winner is slotted in wherever the rest of the competition is up to. This would take a while, but at least it's fair.

I'm happy to be slotted into the roster wherever it is easiest for you, shortloldude.
I'm not concerned with winning, just want to have a go.

Re: ODT3

Hello everyone, these are the brackets for the upcoming round. The 3rd place bracket is a bit weird, each round when you are knocked out of the main tournament you will join the 3rd place tournament. In the end the bracket will be uneven, so 2 people will duel with a person sitting out, then the winner duels the person who sat out in the end.
The deadline to choose the 3 topics is Sunday January 13, models must be entered by Saturday February 2, and the polls should end the following Saturday. I will pm every contestant today to remind them. Good luck everyone!
*I am also not a master at making brackets, but I hope everyone can understand them, sorry for the sloppiness!
