Hey,
I thought it might be a nice idea to have a one handed crane folding competition. time how long it takes to fold a crane with one hand then post a pic of it with the time. at the end of november i will make a poll. you can vote for fastest time compared to how neat the crane is folded.
good luck,
Jerry
here's mine
folded in 4 min 37.8 seconds

Without video this competition is not meaningful. Everyone could just write either number without proof. Furthermore you need to define whether the use of a table is allowed or not.

Yeah, but everybody just needs to be honest.
And personally, i prefer using no table to table...

I always use a table.

Also, good hand or off hand? I recently recorded myself folding with my left hand, in the air. Too much of the folding takes place off screen, and pretty much all the video shows is my legs. I used it just to time myself. Anyhow, 4:53, left hand, air. Of course it's just a crane, so as soon as I finished I threw it right into the trash. It was very neat though, trust me.

Even more fun is to fold one in each hand... I did that once

I don't remember what time I got, I'll have to try it again!

What size paper is everyone using? I would think it would affect the folding time.
Also, do we start with the paper on the table, or can I hold it, ready to fold, if I'm folding in the air?
I assume that using a pre-creased square is cheating...

I used 6 inch Kami - And yes, I think that pre-creasing would be cheating

. Unless you counted the pre-creasing as part of the folding time

Precreasing is always considered folding time.

Of course, Jon; pre-creasing is always counted as part of the folding time

. I thought that falcifer was saying that pre-creasing the square, then starting the timer would be cheating

Yeah, I really wasn't being serious about the pre-creasing.
Though, I suppose anyone who can pre-crease the square, one-handed of course, and then fold the crane and still get a good time is doing well.
I folded one, in the air, with 10.5cm copy paper in about 6:40
Thinner paper would have been quicker, I think. And it wasn't very neat.
