As far as I'm aware traditionally it's done with what essentially are wooden meat tenderisers....... That's after a whole load of cooking and soaking.

It won't be anytime soon though because I started growing it last month. It is about 4 inches tall.

First of all, sorry for neglecting this thread a little bit, however I have some news! I purchased some abaca fibres and I have made some paper with them and it is a massive leap forward! It is much better paper and much more what I was after, I still need to do some refining but it's getting there. I'm also in the process of working out and agreement with a local shop owner to sell some of my paper which is exciting :D
