I made a sheet using this thin recycled foil that I got from the grocery store and a piece of blue unryu. The paper looked cool because the silver foil sparkled a bit through the unryu, but half way through folding Kamiya's wizard it turned into a ball.
I'm generally not a fan of folding with foil anyways, but if you are, this is definitely doable.

The only tissue foil I have made is using unryu paper. If you look in my gallery anything that says it was folded out of tissue foil, is actually unryu foil - I never even distinguished between unryu foil and tissue foil.
I think it works great, and it is right that you can kind of see through it a little but so the gets kind of a cool look. It can get crumply on some models, but I assume that is common to all tissue foil.

OrigamiPete on flickr uses unryu foil, I am not sure if all of the models shown are from it, but this one for sure
