Sustainable paper?

This is probably me wondering about nothing, or worrying about something stupid, or me habit missed something that's obvious (again) but where do the trees that make our tissue foil and stuff come from?
Are they sustainable? Special origami paper, unlike copy paper, can't be reused and drawn on 'afterwards'
what effects could mc have on the environment? It can be a pretty vile substance in some cases. What are the work conditions like for people who make our paper, whether chopping trees or pulping, or colouring....
Just some things I've wondered about for a while. These questions probably had really obviously answers that I've missed because I don't often buy special papers, but the are still pretty valid for where it isn't obvious.

To me, this question seems as or nearly as vague as "what's the best paper?" For example, Origamido paper is likely very Eco friendly and obviously made in good work conditions. The kami you buy at Walmart I wouldn't be so sure of. I'm sure it varies on a case by case basis. You'ld probably have to email various shop owners about where they get their paper, then research the mill the paper is made in. Methyl cellulose is non-toxic, (it is even used in food as a thickener) so I doubt it is harmful to the environment directly, but I have no idea about the conditions it was made in.

Yeah, it is a bit vague, isn't it. Sorry about that. I haven't heard of getting fairtrade paper, or of here being such a thing. That may be because there isn't any need for it, or that people haven't just discovered stuff going on in the paper industry that's bad yet.
What about the forests that the paper comes from? Some shops and sources can say out straight
'from sustainable sources' but others, especially like specialist orgami ones don't have anything like that.
I expect that origami shop.com often get asked this sort of question and have a straight answer for it, or they should anyway, and people who handmake paper to sell probably know in most cases, but yeah, places like supermarkets-I have no idea.

That stuff looks sustainable enough. I bet there is some paper made that isn't though. It's another of those things probably going on in the world that we should do something about. We're probably the best people to do something about it as well if it is going on, but no one knows if it is or not. Either that or people don't know or care yet.
Probably the later one.
There could be nothing wrong with anything, and it would just be me again.
