Need help finding standing man

Post by senorzoidbergo »

Years ago, I got a few origami books from the library and found instructions for a standing man. It was basically a scalene triangle which was layed down on one of the long sides and after a couple of seconds it tilted back up to stand on the short base. The thing that amazed me the most was that this design only worked about 50 times before it eventually wouldn't stand up anymore. I have since returned to the library - no joy, and have trawled the internet only to frequently find references to an origami standing man and his penis which is, needless to say, not what I hoped for. Any help with either a link to an online diagram or a book with this design in would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

I remember this model, it is in the book which I think was called Easy Origami, but I am not sure. :?

I think the model you are looking for is a magic tipper like the one in "Complete Origami" by Eric Kenneway. The book should be easy to find in any library. Basically its the same like this mouse until step 8 with the difference that you skip step 6 (don't turn over), then repeat steps 5 and 7 again and finally fold in half. That's it.

I've checked out the site and the design works, but only with a big sheet of paper, which reminds me that I may have done that all those years ago. I'll be sure to check out those books aswell, if I can. Amazon - here I come.

Thanks a lot for the help. Another goal checked off my list. :D/
