Need help with Ghost Monk With A Stick

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to fold Nick Terry's "Ghost Monk With A Stick" (the one that's in the ninth Tanteidan Convention book). I think I've gotten everything up to step 36, where the arms become 3d -- I can't figure out how to get the arm from it's flat state to the nice 3d shape.

I'm looking for any general help that I can get, here, but I also have two specific questions: First, at step 36, the back of my arm flap has two coloured flaps with white underneath. Is this supposed to become the top of the arm in step 38? Second, when the arm is formed, does it have three sides (top and both sides) or just two (top and one side)? That is, is the cross-section U-shaped, or L-shaped?
