Hi,
I've been struggling with this stem* a while now...
The problem is that it feels like it doesn't matter how I twist the stem(after I've folded it by the diagram), it always end up in the trashcan...
I've been staring me blind at this picture* and trying to understand how he twist the stem to get the nice and tight look :/
At least at the picture* it looks like the paper is twisted kinda hard and many times, but the question is how with all the other folds :S
Help would really be appreciated.

Looks to me like maybe it was wound around a stick or something to make it that shape.
Maybe the stick is still inside to give it strength or maybe it has been removed and the stem is hollow now.

thanks for reply, now I'm finally getting somewhere with the stem but i need some tip on how to attach the stem to the rose.
I've folded the new kawasaki rose with the calyx from DofTNet, thou it's a little modified and looks like this*

I see a very small hole in the middle of the calyx.
Can you make that hole a bit bigger so the stem can fit into it?
I've never tried to make a rose, so I don't really know if that's the right way or not.

Hi Paaskehare,

With the calyx I fold (Ron Yu's), you have to insert the end of the stem into the calyx before fully squashing the twist fold of the latter. The twist fold closes the little hole at the bottom of the calyx, fastening the stem in place. A thickened end of the stem helps securing it in place. Assembling sequence: stem into calyx into rose

The bottom center of your (mrsriggins'?) calyx looks similar. I guess fastening the stem to the calyx should work in a similar way.

Hi there,

it also took me sometime to figure it out how to do..but I was finally successful to do it. Dont expect too much from the one creator of that stem, as he doesnt give much feedback

let me give you some hint to do it...
as far as I know...you fold it just like the way, if you do the rose...the very first steps...in the center of the paper...which will also be the center of the rose

...just fold it like that...

the next trick is to twister the stem. I think it is twistered in the opposite way per section, between all the thorns.

that is what I found out..but not sure if that is 100% correct. give it a try and let me know okie

ps: I am also looking for a nice calyx...havent found one, which really fits perfectly into the rose...if you know, please let me know.

Paaskehare is that my calyx on the bottom of your rose? If so I would be more that happy to give you instructions for inserting the stem. If not whose is it because depending on the model what you need to do will change.
