Does anyone know the reference points for Brian Chan's Brass Rat? the video with the crease pattern is here.

You know the one where you make a kite fold and then connect that kite fold to the opposite corner and see where it crosses the diagonal?

It's not that one, but it's really close.

It's 3/8.

I discovered that they're similar when I was cleaning up one of my old designs that was based on 3/8. I reconstructed it and realized that the optimal value was 1:1+√2 (.414 as opposed to .375)

It would [probably] be better if he had used the other one though.

I actually figured out the 3/8 after I'd posted this, but that's a good idea with those refs (Kamiya Satoshi uses them in approximately 0.414... of his models :lol: ).
Everything with those references seems to work really well. I'll try it!
