Well I'm kind of "nearish to beginner level crease patternist" and I made it without any problems with a 30cm square of tracing paper.Harpseal wrote:I'm sure we've been through this already, but what size would you recommend for a nearish to beginner level crease patternist who wants a challenge to do ryujinn 1.2 on?

I was writing much about "me making ryu zin 3.5" etc etc, so time for a progress pic
if I will fold it with such speed, it will be finished in july... maybe

If i ever try that crease pattern, it will be madness, although, sounds remarkably fun!

Firstly,
I don't know if you can publish these parts of book here, I think you should delete that post.
Secondly,
the 2cp and a diagram are simplified views on how to twist the neck - you do this after collapsing the whole cp,
these lines aren't shown on the 3cp, because the whole thing would be a mess of lines

As far as I understand; So I should twist the neck after this photo right???

Re: Satoshi Kamiya - Ryu Zin (CP)
yeah, the short diagram of neck twist is a diagram of what you should do now. it's simplified to make moves more visible. i suggest making a test fold on a small square (8x8 grid)

Re: Satoshi Kamiya - Ryu Zin (CP)
I have tested the twist method desceibed in Kamiya's book, you will need a very thin paper to execute it nicely and for prevent the paper from riping. And also you should note the direction of your fold because he did it in 2 diferent ways. If you look at the photos on the works gallery of the book, the scales of that ryuzin wraps around the body starting on the rigth side and on the model that he is shown folding on the cover of the book the scales wraps around the body starting from the left side. (If you are looking from the top of the head). To follow the daigram you only need to mirror the images if the scales on you ryu zin wraps form the right to the left.

Just started my 2.1 yesterday from 80cm tracing paper. Wish me luck!
I'll bring it to Centerfold, too.

I totaly solved this head neck issue, I m thinking to make a video for understandable & will post video within a few days at here...
Re: Satoshi Kamiya - Ryu Zin (CP)
I'm going quite well, making a grid, then progressing onto things off the grid, before collapsing. The paper i'm using is wonderful, although if i fold it on the coloured side, it feels weird. Using 50cm display-backing paper, bright red on one side.
