Just rocket science.
Those not too familiar with the subject will not understand a CP, hun. -w-
For eccvets, if you have trouble with CPs, try some simple box pleating models from CPs first (since the scales are) and move to more difficult/intermediate ones. I think Dao's Succubus (the one with only wings and legs) would be an easy start for trying to make the base and shaping it to look similar to the model. The carp/koi here is...really a bit of a stretch for starters.
That's why I chose to make a thread, the head is giving me a head ache and the pleats around what I assume are the front and back fins are really odd.

If colour up, then the line closest to any edge is a mountain, if colour down, that line is a valley.
