Thanks so much moonglow! OHH I think I see now. I am very much a visual learner, so I am almost certain that the pictures you gave will help! I will try it again tonight without creasing the thinner lines

EDIT:

I did it, but I am having trouble forming. Perhaps it comes with practice? I am not quite sure I am doing it right, but I hope so. I also think I folded opposite of what you all did?

EDIT again:

While I was studying other pictures of finished and collapsed roses, I started thinking maybe I was doing something wrong. I looked at the pink rose on flickr by someone from here (your name escapes me at the moment and I am going to bed in a min). My rose collapsed and twisted didnt seem to look like that. So I collapsed it again to take a few pictures.

Did I miss a step?

About the base:
From your pictures it seems you've done alright. Just make some reverse folds as shown on both sides to hide pockets and you will get the same base as I did.

As for shaping, well, from the first picture you seem to start alright, just twist some more and shape the petals (and be patient), that's the only help I can give you. Anyway, I'm not sure I'm even the right person to talk about this since my rose isn't exactly a masterpiece...
Good luck anyway!

Thanks. I did that and now I will try forming again. I was just concerned because my rose seemed really tall. The image seems to flatten out what I had going. It was really tall and stacked looking. I will keep trying, thanks so much for the help!

Now I am just curious as to why my base looks so different than this

I am new here and I really want to make this rose, but I'm not familiar at all with CPs. Can someone please post up pics/video of the beginning? (how to get the flat pentagon) I didn't find any clear help on the beginning part, and I'm stuck :?

Anything at all would help! I'm really desperate to make this rose

Edit: I can't really buy the book because I'm only 13 years old. :(

I made one yesterday. And I made one today. My first was better than the second and I used regular printer paper. I will try it with a different kind of paper today. And when I am done I will take some pictures of them for everyone!

Good luck on this model!

Lang's rose is also found in the new OUSA origami Collection 2007, just in case those who went to the convention didn't see it there  .

Yes, definately off-topic but put succinctly, the convention was great. Although it was my first time and I only went for half of Saturday, I had a great time :D .

Yeah same here-I have the base fine but twisting the petals into place is confusing me. I have the diagram from the collection, but it is still pretty unclear about the twisting process.

Begin to twist the first from the bottom layer to the left (counter clockwise). Then repeat on the layer above and so on. Then curl the petals. Getting the base into the rose is the most time consuming step for me.

Perhaps someone can post a video? (I've tried everything, I just don't know what's right)
