Jun Maekawa's Standing Crane

Hi I am having a lot of trouble understanding Standing Crane, fold #34 where I am supposed to pinch to make an isosceles triangle. It is a beautiful model from his book Genuine Origami, but I have been stuck on this the last couple of days. IAny help appreciated.
