Help with a horse model called "Paci"

I saw this cute horse (http://bit.ly/Hls0ld) on the Hungarian Origami Society's site, and thought, "No problem." I thought too soon.

Here is the diagram: http://bit.ly/HdU5gs. In the "Test" section, I get to the fifth step with the dual-colored triangle okay. Then, after I make the diamond shape in the next step and valley-fold the the front "flaps" of the diamond down, the color of the paper isn't uniform, like it should be, according to the seventh step. My model comes out with the diamond shape in one color and the two triangles on either side in another. :? I think I'm doing the initial steps incorrectly, but am not sure.

I appreciate any help I can get with this. Thanks!

wow. although I'm puristic like the pope is jewish a three part horse is even in my do-what-you-like-world too much :)
regarding to your question. I just proof folded it to the seventh step and my model was exactly like in the picture shown. maybe you did something wrong with the squash in step 5?

I think you are right; I just can't figure out what I did wrong.

...and you are right about a three-part horse being too much. It is kind of cheaty.
