Hi all,

First time visitor here :) , I am a graphic design student and I am designing a gallery guide as part of a project I'm working on. The guide will be a small A5 size book and I had this idea that I wanted a map to fold out around the outer edge of the book as it is opened flat, like this -Image
but then be concealed again when the book is closed.

What I want to achieve is very similar to something called a 'turkish map fold' like this -Image
but the problem with that is the large folds down the centre mean it wont work with a book in the centre.

I realise this may not technically be considered origami, for which i apologise, but I figured people here would have a great knowledge of paper folding which may lead to some progress.

Will be extremely grateful for any suggestions/shared knowledge, many thanks!

I just whipped up this tutorial, should give you a general idea of how to do it. its actually pretty easy, just took a long time to come up with the method. i know, its a real crappy tutorial, so if you need me to explain something, just ask. i can actually type out all the steps if you want.
