Hi,

A couple of days ago I read an article about the rebranding of a worldwide student association. The new logo is an abstract representation of origami, symbolizing "unfolding potential, creating something from a blank piece of paper". Since then I've seen it as an intellectual challenge to fold that logo myself. As I'm only an admirer of Origami art and no experts, I havn't even come close. To be honest, I'm about to give up.

Can you tell me if it is at all possible to fold this model symetrically and point me in the right direction?

Your design is too complicated compared to the final shape.

My interpretation
Takes about 5 steps:

@PauliusOrigami: Given that I collapsed your CP correctly, the small triangle on the right in the picture on top of this page is above the corner and not below it like it should be.

I drew this CP by heart, so the reference may be not exactly identical on this CP. This inaccuracy gives this misarrangement in the final model.
With a CP I wanted to show just the basic structure.

thanks for taking on my problem as well. Could you possibly post the proper cp again and put numbers by the creases, indicating in which step they are made/reused? I can't seem to colapse it from the pattern alone.

Another premise I intially put in place was to fold the figure symmetrically, so to speak having the desired shapes on both sides. But I guess, that is way too difficult...

@PauliusOrigami: Yeah, you're right. I was just freefolding, wasn't really thinking about efficiency. Beat you to the punch on diagrams though!

Ok, I also have folded this for the challenge. Ended up alot like yours, Paulius, but did not copy you There are no real references for this, I'd say just eyeball it, but you can adjust the folds to taste Locks nicely together with the folds in the bottom right corner

Thanks very much, Anna and Paulis! Glad I could be of help David! By the way you can undo those folds in the bottom right corner to achieve that symmetricality you wished, but then the model does not hold together well, so it's a bit of a trade off.

And this can be locked together by using lines on cp, shown here, but it is diffucult to do without teaaring the paper, as you see I did here
