Can anyone help me on steps 148-56, please? I can't read any Russian, so I am completely lost as to reference points or just what to do in general. Thanks.

I can't read russion either but the pictures are clear enough to show what to do without needing to understand the text. You haves to spread the point into half an octagon. The circle reference in step 148 shows where to do it. Then collapse the half octagon along the creases in 149. The model doesn't lie flat until you do the crimp in 150. After that steps 151-156 are pretty straightforward. Hope that helps in some way.
