Origami Mega Man

I came across this box pleated model and would like to try folding it:



It seems to be a rather simple variation of this model:



I'm not positive but would like any feedback on what the forum thinks the best way to get to a base and I'll just shape to get close to the model.

I dont know if they are variated of each other because look at the proportions.

Yeah it seems you're right. I'm a bit stumped but it looks almost like a standard box-pleated human base.

try tominaga kazuhiro's soldier in origami tanteidan #13. it seems closer to the base of the megaman. looks like you would have to graft on some fingers though.

Thanks for the reply! It looks almost exactly like the mega man model. I will certainly give it a fold. I knew it looked familiar and that soldier model rang the bell in my scrambled brain.

I designed and folded this for you...


It doesn't look exactly like the mega man you posted above but it is pretty close. My fold isn't the greatest because I used a 24cm square... I'm sure if you used a bigger piece of paper you could get something that looks better. I hope this helps

Langko: What is the grid for this model? I'm not the best at crease patterns, do you have a photo diagram by any chance?

Lastly, did you just modify the soldier model? You're model looks really close to Mega Man, it's very impressive.

The grid is 32x32 if I counted correctly.

That's why you have to count. Take a part where the grid is almost complete (in this case the middle) and start counting from one side to the other. When you reach the middle you can stop counting and just multiply the number by two.
Another possibility would be to take a ruler, measure the lenghts of the Square and the lengths of one segment, then divide the first number through the second. Should give you the same result.

No, I didn't modify the soldier model. Don't have cp or diagrams for that...
I designed it myself from scratch, I just tried to make it look as as close to mega man as possible

Well it's very cool. I'm not great at deciphering CPs unfortunately. I've done Joisels dwarf but the valley and mountain folds were pretty laid out and there was a thread on the base and advice.

I'll try to sort it out.

Am I correct that folding the longer lines in a CP are more important to get to the base, and that the smaller ones are for details? That's what I gathered from searching google.

It seems some lines are fairly short and zig zag back and forth. Is there a technique to fold that or is it more of a manual fold and being very careful?
