Hello, I'm new to the forum and joined to ask for help. I was trying to fold Patricia Crawfords fully rigged ship, but was having trouble with the color change. I managed to sort of do it, but the end result was less than satisfying. If you have a good description that would be nice, but a video would be even better. It's step 17 in J.C. Nolans book, Creating origami, page 147. Thanks in advanced for any help.

I don't fully recall and I don't do video, so we'll have to fumble through this:
I'm assuming that you've folded the steps correctly to this point and have something that looks like #17
1. You may be able to bend the model a little (Not fold) to reduce tension and perform something like a closed sink from the top to help roll the paper from the back to get that part of the color change. If I recall, you'll have to manipulate and shape the paper to get the folds to fall into place.
2. Then, the color change from the bottom is much easier, releasing the extra paper, folding it upward, then shaping and reversing the creases.

Finally, just accept that you'll have to fold this model a few times to create a quality version, but when you're finished, you will have a great model, that doesn't take nearly as long to fold.
