Rhinoceros beetle by Jason Ku - step 30/31/32

After the squash fold, I am supposed to unsink two flaps (a smaller and a bigger one) in steps 31/32. I cannot really see where those two flaps are supposed to come from. I suspect my mistake to be in the collapse in step 28. Here is what my model looks like before the collapse:

Notice how there is a diamond shape inside the collapse which is not supposed to be there (I think). However, I cannot seem to get the collapse without that diamond shaped mistake. Help!
