I need help steps 17 18 and 19 of the green one:

In step 17 you have some folds that you have done in previous steps that involve two layers. What you have to do in steps 17, 18 and 19 is just unfold those two layers and then fold a bird base with the color "outside".

I hope that explains what you have to do. Unwrap the second layer and fold a bird base with that part of the paper. The creases were done in previous steps, all you have to do is shape it.

im sorry to say that didnt help maybe a video or pictures would be better

steps 27 and 28 stump me too.....i tried to go on without a proper head

just a question to you.....how long have you ben folding to attempt complex modles such as charles esteens dragon in flight??

i have been doing origami about ten weeks and some people say it is an intermediate model

It is for a simpler dragon model that leads itself to some very interesting variants, perhaps you should practice on some easier to get a better idea how designers think.

Also worth reading other threads on Neal Elias models for example, their is a booklet from the BOS that unlocks the simpler diagrams Neal himself wrote.

I have no idea where you are in the world but if you a really interestd in Origami, join an organisation and get along to a convention, again read the posts ,see the photos about leicester!

By the way I personally do not like the esseltine dragon model - it gets far too thick, and looses it's personality.

That still doesn't hinder you from posting a new question in this exisiting topic.... that way it would be easier for someone having problems (like you) because all the problems would be together in one place.

Hrm...I'm stuck on step 17 as well. Brimstone, what you said about the second layer, do you mean the one created in step 10? If not, what is the second layer you are referring to?

Ah Step 27! I get more questions about that one. Once you get it, you sort of smack your head. It really rather easy. But it's one of those harder ‘to say’, than ‘to do’ types.

I will be posting this to the other list as well.

Here is a hint for steps 27 & 28: Do them both at the same time. Partially open the model out so that you can see the border edge last seen in step 21. This is the trapped paper referred in the directions.

This is NOT an intermediate model. It is complex, and has some tricky folds.
