Akira Yoshizawa's Crab

Post by origami_reila »

Hi all, I recently got "Creative Origami" by Akira Yoshizawa. I want to make the crab, but I keep getting stuck on steps 12 to 13. Has anyone ever folded this crab and have any suggestions? Thanks in advance. I couldn't find a pic of it, but it is very similar to this....

I´ve just folded this model.

It is difficult to explain, but on this steps you have to open the bottom part of the model, unfold the one of the corners of the blintz base folded on step 1 and close the model again.

so i tried this model, and i too am having a bit of trouble... do you only do that step to the one side? when i did, i got a crab with one eye, two legs on one side, and three on the other.... its like the flaps were all connected still, not the eight flaps as shown on the resulting step. so... i repeated that step on the back of model.... still not enough flaps..... so i repeated this step on all four sides, and i got the eight flaps but some were very thick and some exteremely thin. the crab got finished but something just doesnt seem right..its just not symetric enough on some steps... maybe it is not supposed to be?

hi!
I've also have some problems with this crab. Could you make a video or something like that to explain the "opening part" at 12-13 steps! I'm a new folder, but I won't withdraw, because I can't make it at moment. Thanks in advance! :D
