Help with montroll elephant (O. Sculptures)

Hi everybody. I´m having the following problems with some steps of this model:
step 4 : how much is a tiny bit? If someone understands clearly why this space is left it would be very useful to me.
step 9: in this step the valley fold aligns perfectly the rightest point of the triangle (the down part) with the upper horizontal limit of the figure. Every time i try to do 9 and 10, one of the two flaps that are folded to the center ends with the mentioned point under the line, and i don´t understand if it´s related with step 4.
step 35: can´t describe, general misalingement again, don´t know if it´s because of steps 4 ,9 and 10.
Please any help would be useful.
