In origami omnibus theres this thing called "object d' art" I can't seem to get one part quite right (the separating of paper sides and beyond) help please.

It´s always better to refer to step and page number than telling "the step where I have to do this and that". I suppose you mean step 7 on page 217, right?
To do this step you have to slightly unfold the model, pull the layers apart, and refold it again, it shouldn´t be that hard, just try.
