I have read the chapter about box pleating in ODS and I understand how to do it but how do you get the crease pattern? for example, do you draw it? Cut it out?

Do you mean how do you obtain the CP after seeing it on the book? If so, most of them are easy to figure out what exact division of the paper they come from.

Take for instance "Longhorn beetle" from page 460. You'll see that every strip is a 1/24 division of the square. So you go an divide the square in 24 x 24 and then add the diagonal creases that are shown on the CP. Even though this is not how the diagrams of the model tell you to do it, I've found that this is the easiest way if you are trying to solve the CP.
