1/8 of piece of square paper

how do u get one eighth of a piece of paper? there is a few things i want to make in ORIGAMI OMNIBUS that require a 1/8 square and i don't know how to get one.

Fold in half, in half again and once again. There you are.

1 x 1/2 = 1/2
1/2 x 1/2 = 1/4
1/4 x 1/2 = 1/8
then do that horizontal to what you have just done, that paper will then be divided into 64 squares (that's alot....) each on is 1/8 of the original.

If it is to be 1/8 of the AREA then fold in the four corners of the square to the centre and cut of these corners. Now quarter the central square.
Each of the four smaller squares is 1/8 of the Area of the larger square.
