Welcome to the forum!

Paul Jackson's
"The Complete Origami Course" has this in it.
The name of the model is Octagonal Flower (by Paul Jackson). I have folded this, and heres my results:

This model is quite different compared to the one islandmassive wrote about. The only difference between Paul Jackson's flower and this flower is that the tip isn't pushed in

(Maybe they just didn't want to push the tip...)

Cupcake: I don't think these are the same flowers.
The one you folded has a point, the one in the picture has no point at all. Although these two flowers may be similar, they are different in this regard.

to do this flower, you have to turn a square into a hexagon right?

The diagrams for that come from the book Creative Origami by Kunihiko Kasahara:

HINT:
Not octagon... but you're in the right track.
Start with a blintzed base then pull out the inner points to make an 8-point star shape.
