Hi,

I have been trying to do the snowflake by Joseph Wu. But I just manage to do it halfway. I fail to figure out how to collapse the structure. Feel totally stupid and awkward too ... this is the website

Anyone can help we with the collapse thingy?

whithout pictures it migt be hard to describe how you colapse the base, but you have to push in the mountain folds to the center, if you push all of them to the center, the other creases (already made) will practically for themselves.

Try zooming in on the diagrams to get a better idea of where the creases are.

Hope you finish that.

i did it by pushing all the sides together with one hand and then twirling it in the center with my other, they should fold themself if you did the creasing good

there is one more confusion...do i have to press flat all the mountain crease to meet at the centre point of the structure?

if you did the creases accurately, they should meet at the center like step 5

hmm...i can't get the structure to lay flat after the collapse. (sorry for keep failing...i am disappointed myself..patients patiens..)
does the centre point in step 4 will be pop out like a mountain point after we fold the structure to the centre?

i dont recall it popping out, try drawing out the main creases, it might help

The center should not pop out. The flake is supposed to be flat. I would agree with the previous post, draw out the lines, and collapse slowly (patients!) and carefully.

Eventually you will get it!

ok now i am stuck at the 6.7.8 steps.... how do you make the flaps have thick and thin part?

i dont understand what step number 7 is about...hmm

Again, hard to explain.
All I can say is that there will be a thick part on one side (it is supposed to be on the right) and a thin side.

This will be a hard one.
Form the creases before you try to collapse the structure, and use your finger to help form the structure.

hmm does the flaps (after flattened) looks like this:

Well, i think it whould look like the second. Except, the little triangle at the far right should be facing the other way, right. This is assuming that the left is the end of the flap (the edge of the paper).

I just finished this step, so I can give you some more insiteful information....

From the edge of the flap, stick you finger all the way up, so you can touch where the flap comes to the center of the model. There is a little flap in the big flap, push that to the left, and squash the flap as indicated. This is how the directions indicate, and hopefully it will work for you.

Make sure you alternate though! On the next flap, push the little flap to the right.
