HI!

Does anyone have any idae how to fold this crane http://www.origamitips.com/view.php?id=207

I have tried several different ways but cannot figure out how it is done!

Try doing a kawisaki twist and then folding a crane....

Thats what i tried at first, but the paper in the twist is trapped by some of the crane folds. I managed to get somethin' similar looking but could not pull out paper to form the petals.

I did a twist that was horizontal and vertical along the paper. I then folded a preliminary base and sunk the region with the twist. Then I colded a crane and opened up the rose.

This is obviously not the same crane. There is more paper allocated to the region with the twist in it. I suggest trying to sink the twisted region in and out. That way, when you open up the rose at the end it will be able to rest on the bottom of it, as opposed to the top as in mine.

Try a twist that is less than a 16th. I don't know exactly what I used, but it would be too big for the way I suggested, I think it was about a 16th of the paper. It worked well for the one I made, but it you sink the rose into the crane, you will needed something smaller.

I tried the idea I gave you and it worked.


One more here

Just sink the twist in and out. I found a good proportion, but I don't have time to post it now. It is really simple.

There was a thread here recently viewtopic.php?t=2033 about a masu box with a K rose on top. I missunderstood the question and thought it was from a single sheet. Then someone corrected me but I still wanted to do a K rose masu. I tried but did not succeed for the paper gets out of shape and the pleats get trapped and after the box is finished you can not pull them to form the rose. I created a K rose dish though

So Anzman, do you have a clever solution for the box?

no theres not firstly you would need to know how to fold the tubular rose (or at least a know how to do a rose twist) and then you would need to know how to fold a crane its just kinda combining the two

wow interesting. I've seen something similar on kamiya's site

Yehuda Peled saw the rose on Satoshi Kamiya's site while reading Origami Design Secrets, and tried to fold it from the picture, which gave the result on the website.
