Help with cube 6-unit assembly

Post by alf »

Hi all!

Totally new to this forum, I should probably introduce myself properly. :) I am an origami enthusiast from Norway. I haven't been folding for very long, but I've fallen in love with unit origami. The pleasure when every piece of paper slips into place to make a perfect whole is indescribable! I hope this forum can be a nice place for inspiration and help. :)

Up till now, I've been folding the units from Tomoko Fusè's excellent book "Unit Origami". But now I feel stuck. I am trying to fold the cube 6-unit assembly with the pinwheel pattern described on page 136 in the book (hopefully some of you have it!). Last night I tried for at least two hours non-stop, but unable to get it right. Is there anyone here that have folded this particular unit, or want to give it a try? I would have been thrilled to get a hand. :D

Thanks,
Alf

Hi Alf,

I don't have that book, but if it's the same one as this: http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/dribalz/album?.dir=e6ea I have made it and it's not too difficult. You turn the unit over so the pinwheel is underneath and the four arms stick out, then fold each arm in so that the very tip touches the edge of the square and forms a right angle with it.

Thanks for the tip, but it's not the same though... It's like a variation of the Sonobè. But I should try to fold the Chaos Cube, looks nice!
