I am stuck in steps 49-53 of this alien

these are simple mountain and valley folds.

Acctually, those are swivel folds. Well, steps 49, 50, and 52. Step 51 is just a precrease.

For step 49, Fold the mountian folds, and let the rest of the paper swivel. eveything should fall into place.

That is the same with the other steps: 50 and 52.

No Chris, they aren´t. Otherwise crimps, sinks, squashs and so on would also be just simple mountain and valley folds (in fact they are but many of them at the same time) and something like Pureland-folding had never been established.
