Hi there, guys!

I don't know how useful this post can be, but I hope it can be helpful to at least a few.

I have been doing origimi for years now, and I have found lots of nice and cool models all around the world. I guess there are a lot more resources in english than spanish, but the spanish sites have been growing and increasing in the last years, and I have been able to find some really amazing models from guys from (obviously) Spain, but also from other countries, like Uruguay, Bolivia, Peru, etc.

Some of the diagrams have certain instructions in both, english and spanish, and in some cases, only in english, even if the designer's first languaje is spanish, but there are also certain diagrams that only have instructions in spanish.

Since I can speak both, English and Spanish, I can help if anyone needs a translation on a certain (or certains) step (s) on a diagram with spanish instructions.

I hope this can help to more than one.

That's a very generous offer! Depending on the quality of the diagrams, usually you can figure it out without the text but I have seen some where the text was necessary. I'll keep you in mind the next time I'm struggling with one. Thanks!

If I ever need to translate something I use google's translator, though it's not perfect. It translates a couple languages actually.

Ive been taking spanish for about 8 years and can speak and write it pretty well. Although I am not fluent. When I go to a website in a different language I usually use the babel fish translator.

Ok, here it goes.

I will translate the main idea, since there's a lot of bluff in the instructions, if you feel like you need the whole bluff, just let me know, and I will translate it for you!

1.- First fold in 16ths and then fold the diagonals. (The green lines in the first 2 graphics, first one is 16ths, 2nd is diagonals.)
(Part of the bluff here says that you can either fold first the diagonals or the 16ths, but the author suggests to fold into 16ths first.)

2.- Pleat along the marked lines. (Some one stated in the comments that the upper pleat should be done the other way, this is, the valley is really a mountain, and the mountain is a valley.)

3.- Mark the legs and the head (the author comments that this is not CREATING the legs and head, but only MARKING them.

4.- This step DOES create legs. It says most of the points are tails, and that are a couple of tiny points that seem useless at the moment, but they will be used later.

The author says the GREEN LINE IS VERY IMPORTANT, since it thins the points that will become the back legs and sets the tails points in place.

5.- In this step, the points that will become the head, ears and front legs are folded. He mentions that the head is not in its final position.

The GREEN lines are folds and/or marks previously done, while the RED lines are new folds. The author remarks the importance of the position of those new folds.

6.- The author says this step is essential to put the head in place.
He mentions that the "V" shaped fold marked in red covers several layers of paper, but he only draws one. The arc is generated when trying to fold this "V" shape, and he mentions that it is not continuous, meaning it is not either a whole valley or a whole mountain fold, but a valley-mountain-valley-mountain and so on. He says this is because just like the "V" shaped fold, the fold is done in several layers.

7.- This step releases "C", which are the 2 missing tails. This is done folding where indicated. The author mentions that the points of the front legs should be taken to the back side, thanks to fold "A", and also mentions that some folds change from valley to mountain and from mountain to valley, and some folds are added and removed, but they do not appear in the CP. The author himself considers this one to be the thoughest step, but then he says it is maybe not that hard.

He also says the "B" fold is needed to take to the front the points of the front legs. He says this is evident when you are actually folding it.

8.- This is one of the last steps to collapse this CP, doing the legs.

The author says that there are some folds that are not included in the CP, but are needed in order to be able to collapse this CP. His suggestion is to add the folds shown to the CP to be able to collapse it. (Those are the "V" shaped folds with a line in the middle.)

Then, the author says there is a very weird step that makes him understand why Go Guspath doesn't detail this section. He says that when the indicated section is "stretched" to hide it behind the other, the folds are not that clear. (This is the GREEN "V" shaped fold with the line in the middle in a circle and a question mark on the side)

After that, the author mentions that the fingers are done, and that's it. He states that "that's it" means only collapsing the CP, and not actually finishing the model. The missing steps are to put in place the tails, head, legs and the couple of tiny point that he mentioned before (in step 4).

Then he says he includes some pictures of his collapsed CP and a picture of the final model folded by the designer.

By the way, myself do not trust babelfish that much. There are LOTS of things it just wont translate, and most of the time it will translate incorrectly. For basic stuff, it does work, but elaborated sentences, slang, bad grammar or typos, you are surely to get the wrong translation.

It is just my humble opinion!

Agree with frustration using babel fish.
Have found it far better to have Spanish dictionary nearby, or whatever language you're needing.
Japanese seems fairly difficult to translate.
Am looking for workable solution.

A dictionary will give you far better results. Japanese is a little tricky though! Anyway, I am at your service with any translation from Spanish to English and visceversa!

There is such a bountiful supply of really well-crafted origami/papiroflexia from Peru, Chile, Mexico, Brazil etc. that Spanish is quite oftentimes needed. While I , long ago, spoke & read Spanish, I may have to call upon your kind offer in 2008 .

Hanzo, your offer is most generous. There are two short PDF files on the passion origami site written by Roman Diaz talking about how to design birds, but they are all in Spanish. If you have a chance, and the files are not too long, would you mind translating them? If it is going to be too difficult then don't worry about it.
