Hi!
I just want to ask if there is a Pink Orchid Mantis (Hymenopus Coronatus) model out there..
It's really one of the most beautiful creatures I've seen and I would really love too see if someone had designed and folded it.
Is it possible to modify Praying Mantis models into Orchid Mantises?
Thanks!
or maybe this is another idea for designers out there..

That picture has inspired me to attempt to design one!

With some adjusting of flaps sizes, an existing praying mantis base would probably work.

It looks like if you have a praying mantis's finished result, all you will have to do is pinch the eyes backwards, and add some kind of pleat to the legs to make the flaps on it's legs...
...just in my opinion. I may try that soon.

If you start with a base like one for a praying mantis with extra long legs, you could modify the legs a little bit to get the 'petals'.

Yay!! Let us know when you've finished the design,
quesoonfire!!

Here's one more picture of the beautiful insect, to give ideas on how distinctive they are from praying mantises.
Besides the flaps, their abdomens are always pointing up and no wings.
And yes.. modifying the praying mantis could probably work..
But I guess I should deal with the praying mantis first (because I failed on my 2 attempts to fold Robert Lang's mantis).
