Hey everyone, I'm surprised there isn't already a topic about Komatsu's Kingfisher. I've decided to make it a goal to fold all of Komatsu's CPs, and I'm onto the Kingfisher now. I'm having some trouble with the references, Komatsu says (at least I think he does, the page translation wasn't that great...) to divide the square into an 8x8 grid. Which is very handy to get the pleats for the wings, but when it comes to the upper-left corner of the CP (The head and beak I presume) I'm a little flumoxed. Anyone who has done this model before have any tips on finding the references for this one?

I haven't folded this model but I think these might be some possible references:



Start with a kite fold (blue).
Add some angle bisectors to get the reference for the head (red).
Some more folds for more references (green).
