Hi, I was wondering what type and size paper should be used for Robert Lang's silverfish, as diagrammed in tanteidan convention book # 10. I tried using a regular square from a sheet of printer paper(which i always use for small models) but it didnt turn out so well.

What size paper would you reccomend? Oh, and one more thing, how do you make a poll? I dont know how. But here is the question-who is youre favorite person on the forum? I you would, please type yore answer below along with the paper reccomendations.

I haven't seen the model but for a first attempt you should probably go with tissue foil that's at least 30 centimeters to a side, depending on how complex the model is (You wouldn't want something that small for your first attempt at the Ancient Dragon, for example).

And I highly discourage you from making any poll with regards to a favorite person on the forum. This is a friendly community with the goal of mutual benefit and learning. Having such a poll as you suggested would be meaningless - it might even be considered rude because it suggests favoritism. No offense or anything, but please always consider the community you are in before suggesting such ideas as that.

That definitely looks like quite the endeavor. I'm no expert at paper selection, but if this is your first try I might suggest a thin yet malleable foil at least 40 centimeters to a side.

Good luck in folding it; I'd quite like to see pictures of the finished product.

Maybe Bugfolder alone can advice to you paper size and paper type. Just wait...

I managed to fold the silverfish from tissue foil, and it looks ok, aside from a few small rips, but what this model really needs is a very thin, strong handmade paper, which I unfortunately don't have (yet), and a bit of wet shaping right at the end to help thin the layers of the legs and antennae. i'm going to eventually try this moedel again when I track some decent paper down.

i managed thiss silverfish with a 27x27cm square, barely 65gsm. (grams per square meter.)
