When I was young me and my friends used to make these "five-pointed" ninja stars and throw them around for fun. Its been many years since that time, and I can't remember how to fold them any more (neither do they). I've searched everywhere I can think of to find a diagram (or even a picture) of this star. So I thought I would make a post here and see if anyone had any leads or tips to aid me in my quest.

What I remember about the star:

We used to use 1 piece of square paper to make them. The first step was to turn the square into a pentagon (five sided polygon). Then we would fold the pentagon into the actual star. So it was make from one piece of paper, and not one of the so called "one snip" five-pointed star. Also they were not folded from a long strip of paper and "puffed up."

Any tips, guidance, or even a lead on the "official" model name would greatly be appreciated.

Well I've been doing some digging and I found a model in the database that could be the one. The only problem is there is no picture posted of the model so there is no way for me to look at it. So I'll post the link here.

If anyone has the OUSA Convention Book 1987 can you please post a picture of the model here (I think its legal to do that) not necessarily steps or what ever else could be wrong. Also I looked at the OUSA website and I can't seem to find the area where they sell the convention books. So any help on that front would be welcomed as well.

There is a starfish in the book Origami Sea Life by Montroll/Lang, which is essentially a 5 pointed star.

It's probably not the model you used as a throwing star -- it's not very suitable for throwing.

Maybe it was the one published on FabricOrigami?

Now I just need to practice folding it
