This is from "Origami to Amaze and Amuze".

I attempted Jeremy's Dragon with a 15cmx15cm piece of origami paper. It might be possible to do, but, for my first time I think I should use a more appropriate size. The paper needs to be large enough to be easy to fold and easy to purchase or make.

Also I am having a hard time with the fold that makes the basic shape for the arm. (I can't remember what step and I can't check right now).

well, I think that a 6/6 inch sheet of paper is just fine, also for the arms, simply do a rabbit ear.

P.S. I don't want to seem petty, or anything, but the books title is Origami to Astonish and Amuse (not amaze)

a 6 by 6 is a bit small for my large hands to work with as im not practiced enough to do such a delecate fold in a small space.

And not to seem petty but it seems my post does say "amuze"

How about somewhere between 30 cm - 50 cm. For folding purposes that may OK, but if you get much above 30 cm, you may have trouble finding paper that size that is thin enough for the smaller folds.

Also, I believe that with paper that size, the model may be too flimsy to stand by itself....but for practice, that's fine. I find that larger sheets help me get the technique, so that I can re-fold with smaller, nicer paper.

BTW, one of the things that I use for practice are sheets from conference room easel pads. The pages are thin, easy to cut into a square, and it won't matter if they've been written upon... for folding purposes.

that seems like it could work. my 9in squares were a bit hard (it was thiker paper. but a bit larger and a bit thinner should do the trick.

I enjoy making that dragon. I have made it out of 36" paper and down to 1" paper for ear rings. 6" and 3" paper seems to work out really good for me

I use bulletin board paper for complex models. You can get in 48" widths, maybe larger. Try a teacher supply or office supply store for about $5 for 10 feet.
