Hi everybody,

I got stuck quite early with Voyer's wasp:

At step 12 I just don't know how to fold the triangle so that the following rhombus is being constituted.

you have to pull out a piece of paper from it its hard to explain ill get pictures as soon as i can

Have you ever folded the basic Blintzed bird base? if you have then this should be a piece of cake. If, however, you haven't, i'll try to explain this. open up the flap slightly, and inside it, you'll see one of the raw edges of the paper. gently tug this out, being careful not to tear it.

thank you very much for your help - now i got it. I can't remember wether I've ever folded this base but as I've now tried to follow your description I must confirm that this is actually a piece of cake !

So now I've reached a further step that's mixing me up, namely the 60th one...

There I shall fold back half of the lower part of the wasp's wing. If I do so I also have to crease the three legs - is this the right approach?

The problem then is that in the following step 61 a vertical line between the right end of the bent leg and the head part of the wasp indicates that these are two different layers. But in my model it's just one layer.

I don't know if that is the reason for the following problem but i guess so:
the diagonal folding in step 61 won't work as it crosses all three legs and the bottom of the wing.

So what is misleading me here?

To put it simply:

Step 60 is a simple valley fold; you will fold the legs.

In Step 61, you only fold the layer behind the legs; there is a mistake in the diagram, namely the way the valley fold carries over onto the legs.

I was hoping someone would've asked something about steps 24 and 25. I may just be reading the daigram wrong, but it looks like I'm reversing the valley fold I made and then bringing the part behind up with it. Step 24 seems straightforward, but when I try to push the other side up for 25 the middle gets caught and doesn't want to collapse. I think it will crumple if I force it, so I'm thinking I just did something wrong.

You didn't do anything wrong. just fold the little edge to side and flatten the model. Good luck

I'm going to assume it doesn't matter which side? I wasn't sure, thanks alot for the reply.

EDIT: I did this for my first time on 8in x 8in generic store-bought origami paper. I completed everything except the mandibles (I really couldn't figure that part out), and I think next time I will try bigger paper because it came out really crappy.
