I've read on previous posts that you can make a 5-pointed lily using the traditional diagram but starting with paper in the shape of a pentagon instead of a square. I still can't seem to make it work. Any suggestions on folding or does anyone have a diagram handy?

The folding process should be almost identical. You fold a waterbomb base, squash fold every flap, petal fold every flap, etc. Just like the traditional lily, but with 5 flaps, instead of 4.

I like this method because it comes out with the creases for the preliminary base already on it. So collapse down to the preliminary base, like the bird base but with 5 flaps then continue as with traditional lily.

I finally figured out how to do the 5 pointed lily thanks to your responses. I'm adding some helpful hints to those who may read these posts in the future.

Start with a pentagon shape and make folds from each point to the middle of each flat side across from the point (the folds won't go from point to point). Collapse it down like the waterbomb base. The result will give you 5 flaps in the shape of a kite. My initial mistake was the lily diagram I was using. If you use this one (or one like it) it will work out.
